Abstract
Tomato is an important economical and nutritional plant. A factorial experiment involving three variables was executed using a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The effects of melatonin (0, 200 and 400 mg L⁻¹), boron (0, 5 and 10 mg L⁻¹), and sodium chloride (0, 2 and 4 g l-1), together with their interactions, were examined by using the Statistical Packages of Social Sciences to analyse the data. Salinity significantly adversely affected phenotypic characteristics and yield. The administration of melatonin at second level and boron at first level, together with their combination, yielded enhanced performance, exhibiting the highest values for most examined features when compared to the control. The triple interaction second melatonin, first boron and without salt yielded the highest results across all processing techniques. The results indicate that the simultaneous use of melatonin and boron can effectively alleviate the adverse impacts of salt stress in tomato plants.
